So our first mass was wonderful and it’s only going to get better. Many students had floor meetings and thus, went to mass earlier and so we saw a nice sprinkling of students throughout the day.
I was really touched by a thank you card I received from the students who took gross anatomy this summer who I met with only twice to reflect on the experience. They were grateful for the opportunity to reflect and shared that with the faculty. Perhaps that helps me with my proposal to them to turn this into a required mini-course for the students?
Regardless, it was nice to see that nearly all the students hung around after to socialize with us and with one another. I walked around before mass and personally met all of them. That’ll make next week easier as I learn names. And most importantly, students are signing up for social, spiritual and service activities with us! So we’re off to a great start!
We’ll be heading to the chicken wing festival next weekend! Yum! And a chance to really get to know those that attend!
Now…to try to grow it a bit more next week!

I’m looking at campus ministry from the other side. Having had a lovely tour of the sacred spaces at the campus where my oldest is starting his freshman year, I was left feeling reassured by the wonderful campus ministers I met that there was more to life than academics.
