While I’m now a fan of the Buffalo Sabres and wasn’t happy to see Ryan Miller the Sabres goalie lose, I was ecstatic at seeing the Canadians win on their home ice.

My mother’s father was from Sorrel Quebec and while I never had the pleasure of meeting him, many people tell me that I have his demeanor. My wife and I have had many romantic moments in the great land up North–we honeymooned in Quebec City, which may be the most beautiful city in North America. We’ve vacationed in British Columbia, preferring Victoria to Vancouver but loving both cities.

So congratulations to Lindy Ruff, the Sabres coach who was on the coaching staff for Team Canada (how exactly does that work BTW? I’m the Sabres coach but now I’m going to tell Sidney Crosby how to beat my goalie for Team Canada!) and Team Canada.

The Canadians should be praised for hosting a great olympics and for winning the most goal medals ever.

Americans have not been quiet, backpedalling into a “nobody cares about Olympic Hockey” mode. It’s amazing how arrogant some Americans can be to our neighbors to the north.

Living near the Canadian boarder now calls me to visit more often now! I can hear the Toronto islands calling me already! Maybe a trip to Prince Edward Island? Calgary is another stop I’d like to hit that I haven’t yet.

Any Canadian destinations that I should also hit? My wife deserves a vacation!

And by the way..would you ever hear Americans singing their anthem with such pride? Not even after 9-11 where they had to resort to God Bless America because so many Americans don’t know the words to the National Anthem.
