So I’m starting a Lenten diet tomorrow. My Lenten resolution is to give up one pound a day for lent. I’ve been a bit out of control with my dietary habits lately and I just joined a local “Y” so exercise is getting back on my table as well.

But today is not a day for dieting but in someways for excess. Mardi Gras literally means “Fat Tuesday” and that enables us to think about our own excesses. We kind of get in touch with them in a way today. What is your big excess? What do you love so much that you may even have an unhealthy attachment to it?

This Lent may we grow beyond our usual ways of being into a more healthy relationship with ourselves.
