Thinking about people I admire for their greatness, I often realize that the things we remember the most famous people for are usually one simple moment in time. Sure, perhaps things led up to that pinnacle moment, but it was surely one brief moment or several brief moments that bring greatness to an individual.
Our lives are made up of these moments. Each moment being an opportunity for us to live greatly. As the prophet Micah says: “To live justly, love tenderly and walk humbly with you God.”
What I think we all want in this New Year is a string of these moments where we are called to be the best we can be. Where we are challenged to live more justly, to love all, not just those we are close to more tenderly and to remember that we are not God and that we are humble in our small, but great moments.
So for today’s musical inspiration we turn to none other than Russell Crowe (yes, THAT Russell Crowe) and open our hearts as we pray for One Good Year.
