This is essentially Psalm 91 which is one of my favorites and came up in the Psalmody tonight:
I’d like to offer special prayers tonight for a dear colleague who is not doing well right now with the virus and for others in his community who have contracted the virus as well. In addition, I ask for prayers for Rev. Anthony Iovine, a longtime friend, whose father is in hospice and will soon die.
Each night I pray for my mom in nursing, my sister and her health, the repose of my dad’s soul and for the grace to be a good husband to my wife. And of course for all the young adults I’ve served in ministry and for the opportunity to keep doing that in new ways.
May the all-powerful Lord grant us a restful night and a peaceful death. Amen.
